Stronger us!

We have already discussed how to bring the family together and spice up this isolation period.

Today, we are going to talk about just our ownselves; the very basic health tips that we all must follow regardless of any pandemic.

I. Breathe Right:

Since this virus brings upper respiratory & pulmonary disorders, let’s make sure we are strong enough to handle the attack. Regularly testing and making our lungs work to its fullest capacity will ensure the shield against it. Those who do yoga will appreciate the power of right breathing.

So, how do we breathing right?
Inhale slowly & consistently (controlling the air inflow) through your nose with mouth close. Once you reach the capacity where you feel you cannot inhale anymore, stop inhaling and start exhaling, using your mouth, slowly & consistently (as you did it while inhaling).  Empty your lungs fully by pulling your stomach in. Repeat this cycle 5-10 times maybe 3-5 times in a day. If you do this in open air or close to the open window it would be the best. Initially, you may feel stressed but as you are doing more and more, this will become natural to you and you will be more relaxed. In the world of yoga, advance breathing techniques are referred to as “Pranayam”. However, the basics are what we've just learned. Let’s get used to this and we can discuss advanced techniques later on, but this alone should serve the very purpose.

Benefits of doing this:
-Our lungs expand and contract to its fullest capacity using this technique; our respiratory & pulmonary system is getting stronger now.
-The fresh air inflow is oxygenating our blood and is helping us relax and bring us more energy and relieve stress if any. Due to better-oxygenated blood, the blood flow in our body is now much better and we will find body-aches or pains getting relieved too.


II. Drink more water:

Long hot water showers not only remove the germs off our body but it also helps us relax and bring freshness to our mind and body. However, it would bring dryness to our skin so do not forget to use some extra body lotion.
